a poem and second publication with laura barkat

i found a place
unhurried
in the brambles
obscure
hidden from world

soft and tender
grass a whistling rustle

hair fanned about my face
eyes grasping blue
sunlight laced
between cotton

i sang softly to myself
wishing you near

Claire,

I went there and read the poem (I remember the first time I saw it as part of a RAP prompt) with your photo. Love the union--again!

Lovely post today.

Take me in your suitcase, will you?

Blessings.

I really like the tone of the photo. I have alwyas been a fan of it. Guess that is why my living room is in brown, beige, dark brown and white.=) Have a good time off.

I love the line "grass a whistling rustle" -- I don't think it would be possible to capture this sound in better words.

Sometimes the sweetest songs are those we sing to ourselves, even -- or especially -- when they are prompted by the absence of someone missed....
